SB322: An Act relative to a Silver Alert Program to protect those with Alzheimer’s.

As persons with Alzheimer’s and related dementias are at an increased risk for wandering, resulting in injury or death, special procedures must be enacted in order to ensure the safety of these individuals.

  • Train all first responders, 9-1-1 call center operators and other appropriate personnel on dementia-specific issues and approaches.

  • Use reverse 9-1-1 calling plan to contact local residents when an elder is reported missing.

  • Coordinate Silver Alert with MedicAlert® + Safe Return® program.

  • Commit to standard operating procedure for first responders, 9-1-1 call center operators and other appropriate personnel when an adult with memory impairment is reported missing.

LEAD SPONSOR: Senator Robert O’Leary (Cape and the Islands)
