Thief
The stories seemed plausible
If I hadn’t known her for so long
I would have sat and listened for hours
Chill realization of mind astray
Crossed lines, white noise, a disturbance Occasional, at first anyway
This thief steals one pearl at a time
The loss difficult to find at first
This thief steals the now
Replaced by a past
More real than today
