Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's Change Location

November is National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month

In November 1982, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation designating the first National Alzheimer's Awareness Week. That historic event marked the beginning of a movement in greater awareness and understanding of Alzheimer's disease. Over the years, that one week has become an entire month and awareness has grown on a global scale.

Click here for the Awareness Month Calendar and see what is happening in your community!

We hope you will join with us in November by sponsoring an event to highlight Alzheimer’s disease.  At the Alzheimer’s Association we are able to support you in a number of ways:

  • Post community programs on our Awareness Month Events Calendar – the only time all year!

  • Provide a limited number of materials to you free of charge including posters, brochures and flyers

  • Provide the opportunity to purchase items that show support for Alzheimer’s Awareness (Click here to shop for items that show your support!)

You may want to host an educational lecture or a health information night for the community, show a video about Alzheimer’s disease followed by a discussion, or display artwork created by people with Alzheimer’s disease. Note: the Alzheimer's Association does not support the use of Memory screening events in the community. Screening Events will not be posted on the Events Calendar.

Let us know how we can help you plan for your Awareness Month event by filling out the form below.  We look forward to hearing about your activities!

TIP:

As you prepare for your event, you may want to check the materials and information you already have about the Alzheimer’s Association.  Some recent changes to the Association’s offerings:

  • Do the brochures you have correctly list our chapter (including both MA and NH) and contact information?

  • New brochures cover topics such as Diagnosis, Younger Onset Alzheimer’s and Late Stage Care.

  • In the past year our Safe Return wandering program has paired with Medic Alert.  We now have new literature and applications.

  • The new Late Stage Caregiver Guides are here!  Family caregivers (sorry, currently these aren’t available to professionals) can call our Helpline to receive one free of charge: 800.272.3900.

There are two ways to contact us. Either print out the Awareness Event Form and fax or mail to us, or submit the Electronic Event form.

Any questions, please call Allison, Wednesday – Friday at 617-868-6718
