Route Maps riders

In the participant handbook you will find maps of all three route options.  However, these maps are relatively small and only give a general overview of the routes.  Below we’ve provided links for each of the three route options on the http://www.mapmyride.com website.  Navigating around this site is simple and instructions are provided should you need assistance.

You will notice there are a number of links for each route option.  For each route, the link starting with the words "2012 Memory Ride" pulls up the entire route starting and ending at Devens.  This map will show the location of each pit along a given route.  You can also pull up the elevation profile for the route so you can see the location, length, and steepness (grade) of the hills.  However, because of the length of each ride and way MAPMYRIDE creates this profile, the numerical value for the steepness (grade) shown on the elevation profile is not accurate when the entire route is plotted.

The other links show the individual pit-to-pit stages that make up an entire route.  Pulling up the elevation profile for one of these stages will give you a much more accurate idea of the length and steepness of the hills because the distance being plotted is much shorter.  For example opening the link “2012 Memory Ride Century” and pulling up the elevation profile suggests the steepest hill has a grade of 3%.  However, opening the link “Devens to Berlin” shows there is a short stretch of road just before the 9 mile mark with a 4% grade.  When comparing one stage to another please note the vertical scale for each elevation profile changes based on the lowest and highest points along a given stage.

These links are being provided for your information only.  There are inaccuracies in these plots; for example the total elevation gain reported by this website for any route is generally low.  The route committee’s goal is not to say “There’s a 1 mile hill with a 3% grade starting at mile 23” because the software used by the MAPMYRIDE website is not capable of that level of accuracy.  Rather, we are providing this information to give riders a better sense of the terrain they will be encountering on their individual rides.  Please use this information only to help better prepare yourself for the challenges you’ll face during the Memory Ride.
