Against All Odds
Marathon team endures run and Nor’easter

Lisa Kaminsky, one of the program's top fundraisers for the 2007 Boston Marathon® team

Days before the 111th running of the Boston Marathon®, meteorologists reported dismal and even unthinkable weather conditions for runners about to emark on a 26.2 mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston on Monday, April 16. As an unseasonably cold Nor’easter brought wind gusts of 30-60 miles an hour up the east coast and hit Boston the eve of marathon day, no one knew what to expect the next morning or what would await the 20,000 runners.  Prior to marathon day, 30 Run for the Memory team members made a commitment to the Alzheimer’s Association and themselves to train hard and raise funds for thousands of families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Through the leadership of board member, Tim Morrison, the Run for the Memory Team program has grown and raised an impressive ½ million dollars since it’s inception 6 years ago. With support from volunteer team leaders, Ed Cederholm and Chrissy Horan and the expertise of running coach, Rich Schilder, our team of thirty crossed the finish line.  We’re proud to recognize the entire Run for the Memory team for completing the 111th Boston Marathon® in unbearable conditions and raising $210,000 to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
