What to expect when you arrive

Once you’ve arrived to Fort Devens and parked, proceed to Museum Field where the start/finish of the Memory Ride is held. Next:

  • Proceed to the registration tent. Volunteers will be ready to check you in and provide you with your athlete packet.

  • Please plan to arrive at least one hour before the start of your ride, to make sure you have plenty of time to register, grab a bite to eat, get your bike tuned up by Landry’s Bicycles, and attend your safety meeting at the start line.

  • A light breakfast, coffee, and beverages will be provided at the ride start.

Don’t forget to bring:

  • Bike (Sadly, we’ve seen this one forgotten at home!)

  • Helmet

  • Cell phone

  • Personal ID

  • Extra money

  • Clothes (your favorite shorts, socks, jersey, base layer, & rain gear if applicable)

  • Cycling gloves

  • Sunglasses

  • Sun block

  • Lip balm

  • Patch kit

  • Spare tubes

  • Water bottle

  • Food (if on a special diet)

  • Personal medications

What to expect along the route

Memory Ride route support is provided in a variety of ways:

  • Pit Stops – Riders receive cheer, snacks, refreshments, and bathroom access at pit stops along each route.

  • Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles cover the route from start to finish, monitoring your progress and providing transportation as needed.

  • Medical Support personnel will be at Museum Field and out at the pits.

  • Ride Marshals will be patrolling all routes on bike, offering another level of support to our communications team.

  • Bike Tech Support, provided by Landry’s Bicycles, is provided at the start and at each Pit Stop along the route.

  • Massachusetts State Police Officers will be leading out riders onto their respective routes, and will be working to keep you safe throughout the day.

  • Communications Support – Our “Net Control” radio operator volunteers are the eyes and ears of the Memory Ride. Radio operators will be stationed at Museum Field, in SAG and Medical vehicles, and at each Pit Stop along the route. Riders who have concerns may also dial directly into net control (the number will be provided on a bracelet in your registration packet on ride day), so make sure to carry your cell phone.

  • Detailed Route Markings will guide you along your route safely to the finish. Road markings are supplemented by road signs to ensure that you don’t get lost.

Snacks and beverages will be provided at each of the Pit Stops along the route. Lunch will also be provided at Pit Stop #4 to Century and Metric Century riders.
